Delivery to Switzerland: customs duties

Edited

Orders delivered to Switzerland are billed excluding taxes. Payment of Swiss VAT and customs clearance fees is mandatory for delivery. These fees are the responsibility of the recipient.

To avoid any surprises, here is the detailed process according to the type of parcel and the carrier.

Which carrier for your order?

The carrier depends on the size of your product.

If your order includes one or more products under 120 cm

👉 Handled by Colissimo (La Poste)

Examples of eligible products:

  • Kite or wing tips

  • Foil parts

  • Inflatable boards

  • Textiles and other accessories

Parcel route:

  • Shipment from France by Colissimo

  • Pickup in Switzerland by Swiss Post

  • Delivery to home (or pickup at the nearest post office if unavailable)

If your order includes at least one product of 120 cm or more

👉 Handled by Geodis in France, then Streck in Switzerland

Examples of eligible products:

  • Large front wing (e.g., Foil Front Wing Veloce H V3 - XL and larger)

  • Rigid boards starting from about 4’0

Parcel route:

  • Shipment from France by Geodis

  • Pickup in Switzerland by Streck

  • Delivery to home

VAT and customs duties in Switzerland

On import, the fees generally applied are:

  • Swiss VAT : about 8.1% (variable depending on product type)

  • Customs clearance / handling fees charged by Swiss Post or Streck.

Payment of fees with Colissimo / Swiss Post

For parcels delivered via Colissimo, the payment of fees is managed directly by Swiss Post.

In practice:

When your parcel arrives in Switzerland and goes through customs:

  • You receive a notification (mail, e-mail, SMS or via online tracking)

  • This notification indicates the total amount to be paid :

    • Swiss VAT

    • possible duties

    • customs clearance fees from Swiss Post

Possible payment methods:

  • Online, via the import fees payment service / customer account

  • At delivery, directly with the courier

  • At post office pickup, depending on locally offered options

Once payment is made, delivery proceeds normally.

Payment of fees with Streck (parcels ≥ 120 cm)

For large parcels delivered via Streck:

  • Streck will contact you directly for payment:

    • VAT

    • customs clearance / handling fees can reach around €70

Delivery is suspended until payment is made.

⚠️ Important to note:
GONG has no authority over :

  • the amount of fees charged by Streck,

  • processing times,

  • delivery terms after customs clearance.

No financial compensation can be granted by GONG.

GONG has no influence over :

  • the choice of local partner (Streck),

  • the amount of fees applied,

  • the payment terms requested by Streck.

My tracking shows “delivery refused,” should I worry?

No, in the vast majority of cases.

This status usually means that:

  • the payment of fees (VAT and/or processing) is pending,

  • the parcel is not actually refused, but simply temporarily held.

Once payment is made to Swiss Post or Streck, delivery automatically resumes.
